Peter Kim who runs ‘create digital Music” put me onto Hiromi Uehara. The words power fusion trio were the draw, he has an amazing video of Hiromi in full flight playing ?Return of Kung-Fu World Champion? live. There are also links to an interview she gave to Keyboard magazine. She reminds me a hell of a lot of Jan Hammer in places.

Desert On The Moon is a great piece, the dynamics of the band and the warmth of the piano sound wonderful even in MP3 format, I cant wait to hear the the CD though. This band has a rythm section to die for, a bass player and drummer who listen to each other and are obviously having a great time with the challenges of the tune.

Her debut album, Another Mind, is astounding and the second release, Brain, followed a year later and gathered a heap of awards and critical as well as popular aclaim. But if you want a taste of Hiromi’s music then download a three song EP from her website. Included a printable color CD cover image along with high quality MP3 files of three edited versions of tracks from her second release, Brain.

I really hope someone decides to bring the band out here to Australia.

is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
