Peatbog Faeries

I have managed to miss the band about three times now which is really really annoying. Why I hear you ask?
Well the short list is

  • They are from Skye and I heard Adam (their fiddler) play in the Scottish Stepdance Company in Glasgow and he is a really talented muso (as were they all).
  • They have bagpipes and guitars and a brass section and drums
  • C: Oh my lord do they have drums.

So lets take a detailed look at the line up here…
Peter Morrison (pipes and whistles), Adam Sutherland (fiddle), Tom Salter (guitar), Graeme Stafford (keyboards), Innes Hutton (bass) and Iain Copeland (drums).
Also on occasion, Seamus Maclennan (guitar) and Peter Tickell (fiddle). (Just what you need MORE guitars and fiddles.)
And then they occasionally have a brass section provided by the Wayward Boys.

So lets take it as read that they aren’t going to be playing in a quiet acoustic setting. This is more your full on Celtic Rave. I suggest that if you haven’t already done so click on the Folk Police link above and have it running in the background.

On 11.

The band has been classed as Celtic fusion and techno/folk (I like that one) and presumably the same tags that were slung around AfroCelts and Shoogleniftie’s neck before them. Basically they are a huge amount of fun and are getting better and better over the their four albums. The latest is a gem.

I just hope I get to see them the next time they are out here. In the meantime back to the downloads.

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
