I missed these guys when they toured last year, the few people who I know saw them said that they were bloody good (actually they Na Na Ne Na… we saw them and you didn’t and then laughed into their drinks. That’s what friends are for).

The Shins are a four piece indie pop band who have been playing and recording since the late Nineties (another overnight sensation). They keep getting their music featured on television and in movies, which is where I first heard them in an episode of the Gilmore Girls. On screen for probably less than two minutes and they impressed me enough to go and find some of their stuff on the internet.

So Says I was the song they played and I think you could do a lot worse than have a listen, from the opening guitar it is just fabulous American pop. No not the made for television, pry every last cent out of the voting public Idol type pop. This is the stuff where you write a song and go out and play it to people.

Great guitars, great vocals, very very cool rhythm section and a smart line or two in the words department. Can’ t go wrong really. There are some more examples of their work on the website. They also have a new album coming out so they may come back to Australia and I will get to see them. Here’s hoping.
