Dhalia’s Lane is a four piece, sometimes five or more piece German folk band who between them play a small orchestra’s worth of instruments and sing in various languages. Their material ranges from traditional German folk songs through Irish dance music to folk songs and ballads from England, Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and France – just a sample of the repertoire of this talented band.
Not being satisfied with this broad range of music they also perform self penned originals as well. Sadly they only provide 30 second samples of their material. The instrumentation includes, bagpipes, accordion, fiddle, various pipes, flute, diverse drums, saxphone, and several renaissance instruments that defy my meagre powers of translation.
Appropriate arrangements, good production and excellent musicianship are the key here. There are also some brief videos available for download.
jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
