Mary Jane Lamond - album cover Lan Duil

Mary Jane Lamond comes from Cape Breton, an island off the Atlantic coast of North America and a part of Canadian Nova Scotia. Colonised by Portugese, French, Irish and later during the Highland Clearances of the early 19th century, by a significant influx of Scots.

Mary Jane Lamond is a vocalist and musician, arranging and performing songs from the rich Scottish Gaelic tradition that has been preserved in the area. She has composed and produced tracks for television and feature films.

Lovely songs, beautifully sung and artfully arranged. Despite only offering samples, they whet the appetite for more. She has released five albums with material that ranges from unaccompanied work songs like Cha Bhi Mi Buan (I Will Not Survive) from her first album through to more complex arrangements for songs like Gur e mo run an Domhnallach (It is my love the MacDonald Man) from her 2005 release, Storas.

jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
