Band of Horses is a Mount Pleasant, South Carolina based indie rock band, formed by Ben Bridwell and Mat Brooke in 2004 after the break-up of their previous band, Carissa’s Wierd. Their debut album, Everything All the Time, was released in 2006. I stumbled across them on Odeo over Christmas and fell in love with The Funeral. Great guitars, great vocals… they have a reverb and they know how to use it. This is a tight band with a definite idea about what they are doing.
It’s a great tune and I love the light and shade that they achieved, when the band kicks in ( even though you know it’s coming) it is still a suprise.
It was a toss up between “The Funeral” and the equally awesome (“The Great Salt Lake“), but this is a more convential song structure. Actually as I listen to it again I think I am selling it short.
Oh well, download one of each from Sup Pop Records site, whack ‘em on the MP3 player and let me know which one you prefer. I think I am wrming to “The Great Salt Lake“
