Let’s see we have guitars, we have bass, we have ukeleles, we have kazoos and it’s silly. No it’s not the Bonzo’s although Jools has been reliving chunks of her childhood listening to some of the wonderful madness that the Bonzo’s put on vinyl, but I digress.

Mad Tea Party is having a lot of fun or at least that’s the way it sounds. The music will remind some of early cartoon soundtracks others of the jugband era and others still of of clever jazz. All in all, not a bad effort.

The track “Brotherhood of Man” took me back a long time to when my friends and I would sit around in the Commune (a long long long departed coffee house in Melbourne) and play guitar (well they could). It is an infectious fun tune that hopefully will leave you wanting more.

Here is some hype about the band…

Mad Tea Party recently released “Big Top Soda Pop”, which showcases the group’s edgy-sweet retro sound. The title track bounces like a trapeze and rocks out at the same time, with lyrics that describe both the glitzy lure and underlying fa?ade of the circus. “Big Top Soda Pop” is Mad Tea Party’s most ambitious project to date, a genuine display of refreshingly imaginative music.

Don’t miss the truly wonderful reworking of the old Melanie song “A Brand New Key”.. it’s running on acid.

Just got back from the Eric Clapton concert…. I promise to do a chill piece for next Sunday

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
