Just in time for St Patrick’s Day, I’m here with another American/Irish band. Keith Roberts on lead vocals and acoustic guitar was actually born in Dublin, the other four members; Bob Boulding on electric and acoustic guitar and vocals, Dave Ingraham on drums and percussion, Chas Waltz on violin, keyboard, harp, mandolin and vocals and finally Brendan Holmes on bass and vocals are apparently from all over the states. The whole shebang is based around the Los Angeles, California pub scene.
They play Irish folk from the past to more contemporary pieces and some self penned pieces as well with a kicking rock feel. The band is slick and the vocals are delivered with authenticity. This is good stuff and if you like folk with a bit of meat on its bones - give these guys a go.
The website is only good for downloading samples from their previous album Real World . The Young Dubliners are also on MySpace where full tracks can be listened to but not downloaded.
jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
