I like to listen to all kinds of music and of course I have my favourite genres and my favourite artists. Since I began reviewing music with Duggup my horizons have stretched even further. Today for your listening pleasure I’m spotlighting another gem that deserves a listen.
The musical partnership that is Clothesline Revival consists of Conrad Praetzel and Robert Powell who collaborate with other singers and musicians to enrich the already well endowed roots of traditional American music.
From their website:
The group’s second release, Long Gone, continues with that re-invention, working entirely with archival field recordings collected throughout the US in the middle of the last century. Arranger and producer, Conrad Praetzel, combines previously recorded a cappella vocals, from blues tunes, ballads, spirituals, skipping rhymes and work songs, with maverick musical treatments, beats and live roots instrumentation. Joined again by his long time musical partner and guitarist, Robert Powell, the results are captivating, untamed, off-beat and deeply moving.
Really there is nothing I can say that the music can’t say better, except that it is unlikely that I would ever have heard any of this material if Conrad Praetzel had not researched the recordings and I am grateful.
I also recommend I`m Going Home On the Morning Train (sadly not downloadable) which you can find on the eFolkMusic website. Stop by and have a browse.

a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.

I should probably point out that Thatch has a previous review of this act, but a previous album, that is also worth listening too. duggup.com.au/2006/08/23/clothesline-revival-ramblin-man/
