Sunchild, the title track of the new album by THIEF took me quite unawares, I heard this and immediately thought of the ad with all the balls bouncing down the street but that was Jos? Gonz?lez’ “Heartbeats” and the similarity is superficial and actually only in my head.
THIEF is a collaboration between Sascha Gottschalk, Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer. These guys are usually found putting out dance tracks but in a fit of madness decided to do an album of songs using more traditional arrangemnts and production. There are bits of the production that remind me of “Pearls Before Swine” (as well as the previously mentioned bouncing ball soundtrack). Beutiful guitars, the odd electronic beep, cellos, really nice vocals all create a laid back ambience that will capture your imagination ( hopefully) as it did mine.
Stroll over to the album website at www.sonarkollektiv.com/releases/SK135CD/ and have a listen to the rest of the album, it really is quite a treat.
thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
