Since they debuted in 1990, Four Men and a Dog have been around the block a time or too and the lineup has changed along with the times. Now there are 5 men and sometimes more. In any case there is a maturity and ease about the music.

A lineup that features Cathal Hayden on fiddles, viola and banjo, Gerry O?Connor more fiddles, banjo and mandolin, Gino Lupari on bodhran and vocals, Kevin Doherty on vocals and acoustic guitar, and special guest former member Donal Murphy on accordion.

All respected musicians in their own right with many credits to their names, they bring experience and variety and spirit to a brand of traditional music that is not limited to the past but picks the eyes out of a number of recent genres to show that there is life in that there dog yet.

Four Men & a Dog made a name for themselves with their eclectic and vivacious blend of traditional Irish music with a wide spectrum of other genres, including rap, Southern rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, polka, country swing, and even salsa.

My favourite snippet is the delightfully old fashioned Last Rose of Summer written around the turn of the 19th century and performed on accordian.

is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
