I have been listening to a large chunk of retro electronica on the MP3 player in the last week or two. A lot of Windam Hill recordings and I rediscovered Patrck O’Hearn and Eddie Jobson’s albums that they did for Private Music a long long time back (and who I must write up a bit one day).
This lead me on to Bjorn Fogelberg who I remember hearing about a decade later than the Private Music material and imagine my surprise when I discovered he had an album out on Magnatune.
Bjorn started out in electronic music on a Commodore 64 back in 1985 (as did a lot of us) and since then he has released a couple of CDs and has been featured on many compilations. Today we are looking at his second CD “Karooshi Porn”, its a rummage through the ambient and soft electronica genres.
“Karooshi Porn” is loaded to the hilt with retro analog sounds and feels but it has a lot grander feel, it’s bigger and more like say Vangelis or Jarre would have done. You know BIG. But not at the expense of some relaxing, lush and very chill textures. This really does remind me a lot of Patrick O’Hearn in places. I really would recommended you have a listen to it
If you are interested you can here some of his more dance related ( and decidedly unchilled ) tracks at www.myspace.com/fogelberg or www.fogelberg.com/

fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
