Oh yes, you want to start an acoustic folk ( with a bit of bluegrass on the side ) band, so of course you assemble a banjo, cello, and double-bass and a couple of good vocalists. Obvious really. Or not.

Crooked Still, is an alternative bluegrass group on a mission to bend the boundaries of traditional music (it’s working). Yes, I admit it’s an unlikely combination of banjo, cello, and double-bass drives but the vocals and sheer killer musicianship seems to being attracting and enthralling audiences all over.

Starting up in 2001,the band comes from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and the Berklee College of Music. As its members finished school, Crooked Still frequently performed around Boston, collecting rave reviews from the local press, notably the Boston Globe, Northeast Performer, and the Boston Herald. For me their rendering of “Wind and Rain” is truly awesome and if you listen to “New Railroad” the solo’s will amaze you.

I hope the Brunswick Music Festival will consider them for inclusion in next years festival… what about in John?

is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
