“Think of us as internet street musicians”
Well that hooked me straight up and then there is their “classification” on the myspace site Folk / Indie / Other.

OTHER?

OK, now I’m seriously interested. Said the Gramophone mentioned this outfit back in May and their song “The Weight” (no not that song with the same name by some other band) just kept finding it’s way on to the playlist.

I think it’s the whole Lo-Fi attitude to the tech, the vocals aren’t sanitised so that there is no texture or interest left in them, the guitars have a “live” in your lounge room feel to them and there seems to be a revolving cast of musicians performing the songs. And the saw playing on The Weight is just perfect.

I honestly am not sure about these guys but I keep finding myself playing one or two of their pieces. There is a wonderful naivete to this band’s material and approach that reminds me of why I like music played by people.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?

  1. I am a bit baised cause I wrote those songs, but I like them. Thanks for posting our stuff. Our website is kind of stream of conciousness, we put up everything we record, and we record it ourselves and so some of the stuff, although cool, we would never put on a cd. Like watchen the sun, even though its a fun song. If you like lo-fi though see if you can dig out the life and times of sgt dunbar off our site, its the best one on there.
