Time for another Chill piece (where does a week go?) , S-Love and Kyoto Nights are two of the slower tracks on my “walking” playlist. The “walking” playlist runs from about 130BPM to 180BPM and is the music I play when navigating the city crowds. Crowd surfing music. Actually, I just had a look at the list and would appear I jump over Kyoto Nights a lot.

LVX Nova’s self-titled release from back in the late Nineties, is a atmospheric ambient album overlaid with some serious acid jazz and rock grooves underpinning it. And of course there are the guitar bits, reminiscent of David Gilmour’s work (but I don’t find this a bad thing) and there are some very nice jazz styling as well.

There are vocal samples, that are probably the aural equivalent of Brion Gysin’s cutups (I don’t find this a bad thing either) from back in the fifties and the keyboard parts range from OK to complelling. They seem to travel through the textures and ideas at a about 130 IPM (that would be Ideas Per Minute).

All in all a nice piece of work, you can check out the rest of the album at Magnatune and let me know how it works for you as well.

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
