Today we will have the calm and introspective music of “Lucy Bland”, I stumbled over them by accident and was taken in by “Centuries” (they probably would have been a better choice for the Sunday Chill piece). There is a wonderful mix between vocals and gentle electronic textures that just seems to work.

My first impression was to just lump them with the “LoFi” bands that I have been listening to of late, but after a minute or so I realised that there was a lot of craft and care that has gone into these songs.
Here is some hype from the website…
Hailing from the rain capital of the country, Seattle, Washington, Lucy Bland lets the rain inspire their music rather than drown them out. Channeling those long winters and rainy days into each opus, Lucy Bland combines delicate drops of sound into a deluge that is indie, folk, and electronic all at once. The experience begins with rich, propulsive rhythms from violinist Katie Mosehauer. Next are hints of spare gospel hymns and ‘60’s sci-fi soundtracks from multi-instrumentalist Tim Stedman. Electronic beats emerge from a table roofed with knobs, wires and blinking lights, and Todd Wallar marshals the song to shape. A pedal steel guitar suggests the coming brilliance, and a mood materializes. Cat Biell colors this picture with whispered words about the sea, the sky and everything in between. Quiet and clear, tantalizing and powerful–the sound is unmistakable. It fills the hall and drifts into the street. Earth spins. Rain falls. Clocks melt. Hear the sublime sounds of Lucy Bland and their debut EP, Lucy Bland’s First Recital
You can pick up their EP from CD baby.
