Dardanelles are a four peice Melbourne band who have just finished recording their debut album, it’s scheduled for release in August, so for a bit of a change they decided to jump in the van and go for a drive up and down the East Coast of Australia and play a few gigs. “Of Course You Said” has great guitars, interesting keys and a powerhouse rhythm section. The vocals are to far back in the mix for me, but it’s probably a fashion thing.
Seriously these guys sound great as a band and if you are in Melbourne on July 14th stroll along to the East Brunswick Club Hotel and see if they cut it live. Somehow I suspect they will
Here is some hype from the site…
We released an EP in November 2006. It was variously described as a ‘frenetic mass of addictive and schizophrenic sonic madness’ (In The Mix); ‘ a whirlwind of despair to a danceable beat’ (iTunes); ‘ambitious, fast-paced and heartfelt’ (PBS); ‘a very strong release that captures the intensity of their stage performance’ (Dwarf Magazine); and ‘gritty, electro-punk that will tickle your dance bone.’ (L’Etoile Magazine)
We were named a ‘Next Crop’ artist by Triple J, and a ‘Band to Watch in 2007′ by iTunes. Our first single ‘Origami Tree’ spent five weeks in the top ten of the Australian Alternative Radio Charts, and was remixed by Acid Jacks. Our second single ‘Of Course You Said’ has already been named ’single of the week’ in three states and been remixed by Riot in Belgium.
The single from the new album is “Footsteps and it’s not a bad piece of work either.
thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
