Yes it’s true that these days singer songwriters of any ilk are a dime a dozen, so it is that it makes me glad to discover another one whose songs soar above the crowd.
The added bonus is that Nathalie Nahai is a female competing in a market of emos of both sexes and all genders. Being of the female persuasion myself it always warms my heart to know that women can write songs that the males can only aspire to. Hmm did I say that?
There is something hauntingly familiar in the words of a mother’s loss in Where Children Play the single from her self titled debut album released on her own label Fuzzy Muskrat Records.
The vocals and acoustic guitar are well recorded and you can hear some samples of some rockier, not so acoustic songs on her website on the music page.
Nathalie lives in London and has been playing one musical instrument or another since she was three. Check out her MySpace page for more music and a video or two including this live recording of her song Blood & Cyanide.
jools is
a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
