From Los Angeles, California in the good old US of A come Nils Lawrence on vocals and bass, Vassil Ananiev on drums, Josh Sonntag on guitars and Big Chris on assorted interesting noises, samples and keyboards. They comprise Shock of the New.

I literally stumbled over these guys while doing a Google search for the circa 1970′s John Berger series on modern art of the same name. The band doesn’t really live up to the name. Pretty standard rock featuring screaming guitar fed through overdrive and cheese shredders. Bass and drums for this outfit are worthy of a good head banging though.

The website is light on band information – unforgiveable, slow to load but it does look pretty – par for the course. From the website:

The band is currently in the studio recording their self titled debut CD Shock Of The New which is due out in August 2007. The album is being recorded at Moodswing Studios in Sherman Oaks, California and promises to deliver 11 of the sickest, power packed tracks guaranteed to rock your socks off!!

jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
