The internet is a funny place, it never ceases to surprise me. I am listening to Radio Paradise (a subscriber supported radio station on the West Coast of the States) and The Audreys popped up. Taasha’s voice is pretty distinctive. Now I don’t know why I am surprised, the mix of great vocals and more stringed and fretted instruments than you can poke a stick at, should go down a treat over there.

It appears that it is. Here is some hype from their site …

In February 2006 The Audreys flew to Texas to perform at the North American Folk Alliance Convention where they were spotted by North American festival directors and signed to venerable Canadian label True North Records, home of Bruce Cockburn. True North released Between Last Night and Us in June, and The Audreys toured through Europe and Canada through May, June and July on an epic trip that took in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Russia and Canada’s East Coast. They then returned to Australia for a serious of sold out dates around Australia for their 2006 Winter Tour, proudly presented by Triple J’s Home & Hosed.

Banjo and Violin is a good place to start listening to them, it inhabits that region between folk and country… and yes it does have a banjo.

Sorry about the banjo, but they really are worth a listen

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
