of Montreal Cover

For around the last ten years of Montreal have produced a prolific output, indeed of Montreal’s new album, Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?! continues their interesting journey that bit further down the road. Flashes of Sixties pop, New Wave through to dance. Jangly guitars and tacky keyboard textures feature all over the place. I love it.

But with the band only being a recent discovery we are going to talk about some of there earlier bits. I was at LastFM and happened upon the “of Montreal page” and noticed that some of the older material off “Satanic Panic in the Attic” was available. “Disconnect The Dots ” is a great little pop piece that sounds like it should have been produced by George Martin. The guitars and voices just swirl around each other, the rythm section doesnt intrude, it’s great.

The are some tracks from the new album at the MySpace site and I would really recommend a listen to the back catalogue as well as the new stuff.

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
