Ryan Smith writes a nifty song, his songs are the the diametrical opposite of Richard Thompson. Here are songs about drinking, love and consequences.
The words are worth working for, the melodies reasonably interesting pop but the words are are a treat. There is an underlying optimism to Ryan’s work that I find infectious, and this is a good thing. “Indian Summer” is a keeper. It has been off an on the mp3 player for a couple of months now.
“Fifteen Minutes“, lets face it you know where this is going just from the title, Andy Warhol’s quip is a ubiquitous part of the culture, but there are surprises lying in wait for you. “Girls With The Glasses” is a bit… well I let you make up your own mind.
Worth a listen.
