Adam Turla does the vocals for “Murder by Death” and his voice is perfect. I mean the band name creates a certain expectation of what they are going to sound like.
They don’t disappoint, hard rock and roll rhythms and the Nick Cave attitude, this is a band that has a ton of musical talent and a different vision, think of say the Decemberists except they are from the dark side. The same deadly accurate eye for a story.. just dark.
Sometimes The Line Walks You from YouTube…
Murder by Death takes their name from the Seventies murder mystery and are more than a tad preoccupied with mystery, macabre, and theatrics.
No strangers to the melodramatic, Murder by Death debuted with Like the Exorcist, But More Breakdancing, which features an eight-minute instrumental track, purportedly played in total darkness, and followed that with Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them?, a concept album that told the story of a Mexican village attacked by the devil.
So it’s a safe bet that the moon and june pages of the rhyming dictionary aren’t going to get much of a look in. I really like this band and the intensity that they capture in the recordings. I suspect that would be like a force of nature live.
Highly recommended
