Telograph

Telograph is a band that I spotted over at Aimie St a few weeks back. There are at least three tracks of very fine “indie pop” on my MP3 player but the stand out pick, for me at least, is the anthemic “We Wont Settle Down“. Now here is a band that paid very careful attention to the way that U2 put together a song, really good powerful vocals, big driving guitars and lots of atmospheric production. Telograph blends catchy pop melodies with the energy of indie rock.

The Washington Post wrote..

“Impeccably arranged and confidently played, Telograph’s material balances grand gestures with propulsive energy and an astute sense of space: The music sounds big but never overstuffed.”- Washington Post Weekend Edition, February 2007 by Mark Jenkins

I have to agree with the review, big sound , not overstuffed.

A four piece from Washington D.C., they fired up around 2004, attracting a small, but fiercely loyal fanbase. They then spent the next few years gigging and perfecting their sound. This lead to the release in January 2007 of their most recent EP, “Little Bits of Plastic”. As you listen to their music you find that they sound more like a British indie act than an American one.

I believe they have just released a new CD this month, , I’m looking forward to hearing it.

The band’s websites are at www.telograph.com or www.myspace.com/telograph

is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
