Alela Diane – My Brambles

Alela Diane

I am constantly amazed at how something as simple as one voice and a guitar can knock you for a loop. Alela Diane is a singer and songwriter from the deep woods and winding rivers of Northern California Gold Rush town Nevada City, Alela grew up singing songs with her parents (both musicians), and performing in the school choir. During a stay in San Francisco in 2003, she began teaching herself guitar and writing her first songs, blending tense, trance-like arpeggios, with warm, thick vocals and thoughtful lyrics about family and nature.

It’s her voice that grabs me, this is a voice that sings stark songs, it’s a voice that is travelling down back roads looking for a lift, it’s a voice that knows that life isn’t fair. Listen to the live recording of “My Brambles” over at Daytrotter or http://www.myspace.com/alelamusic , Actually I would really recommend that you check out her songs over at Daytrotter…

The nice folks at Daytrotter.com were kind enough to have me record some songs with them while I was in Texas for SXSW.
These songs, two of which are un-released are available for download at:

Please enjoy! Thanks for your ears!

I find the directness and the honesty of her performance quite wonderful and I suspect you will as well. Recommended

Her websites are at www.myspace.com/alelamusic and aleladiane.com/

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
