Tunng

Tunng fired up in 2003 by Mike Lindsay and Sam Genders, as a duo. On their latest album they have expanded into a six-piece, having added instruments like steel-strung harp and hammered dulcimer (a instrument that I always find interesting) to their sound and drummer Ashley Bates, who handles some of the guitar duties.
“Tales From The Black” is from an early album so that you can get a feel for where they came from, it’s a gentle intersection of folk guitar, doubled vocals and electronics.
Now to hear some of their current output head to their MySpace site at www.myspace.com/thisistunng. Have a listen to “Cans” and it’s the same idea but with a lot more polish. Next up try “Bricks” its full of bouncing around and wonderful male/female vocal harmonies. This is lush and textured production, whimsical in place but true to the song.
This is music that gives you something to get stuck into. Whack it on your MP3 player and I bet it will stay there for a long time. It really grows on you. It’s a perfect chill for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Highly Reccomended
