Emmy the Great – Easter Parade
By thatch • Mar 14th, 2008 • Category: Acoustic, Folk, Indie, Music
I noticed “Emmy The Great” in a couple of reports on this years SXSW, the vibe was so positive that I had to check it out. So I popped over to her MySpace site and was immediately taken with her intensity and the simplicity of the performance. Click on “Easter Parade” and listen to the buckets of words that just roll out of the speakers. Emmy has a nice eye for a rhyme and a tune. This one is going to become quite a favourite.
Born Emma-Lee Moss in Hong Kong, as a child Emmy emigrated with her family to London where she’s stayed ever since. A proponent of the London anti-folk scene, what the hell is anti-folk??? she has been touring consistently over the last few years but only released one single and one EP to date, although her debut album looks set to arrive this year.
