A Sound Mind

Strolling through the Bourke Street Mall here in Melbourne today, and like most malls it has buskers but today was fun, there was a rock band called “A Sound Mind” busking. Four young guys, Bass, Drums (he was using pads), Guitar and Keyboards, the whole deal… I should also add that they were all plugged into one amp but let me tell you it sounded pretty good… this was a performance that was running on passion. Good enough for me to stop for 4 songs. AND they were still at it 3 hours later when I went past again. (I suspect they were using something more than Duracells).

So after getting home tonight I fired up their MySpace site and discovered a really good rock band. The songs have lightness and texture to them. Anthony (keys and vocals) has a good voice and really sells the performance. “Always and Forever” is a ballad? that shows off the band’s understanding of dynamics, but the one that I really like is “The Power To Dream”, nice crunchy guitars.

Here is a YouTube video of them busking up in Sydney…

If you are in Melbourne, they have a gig on April 11 at Billboard supporting there new album “Harmonia”. You could do worse than strolling along.

Worth a listen

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
