I held this one over until today because it was a tad vigorous for first thing Monday morning – so I’m going to hit you with it on Tuesday instead.

Here’s another young Australian indie band. Now I can’t say I go out of my way to listen to the kind of music that they have to offer – it’s described as punk rock but I’m tempted to put it in the screamo basket. They do however bear repeated listening as their music may grow on you with each repetition as it did for me.

“Young and Restless” are the energetic vocal gymnastics of Karina Utomo, guitar by Josh Weller and tasty rhythm section of Ross Paxman on bass and Nugie Utomo on drums.

Judging by the material on MySpace they are certainly competent musically and the material is pretty damn good if you happen to be into crunchy guitars (hmm sounds like someone I know) and aggressive vocalisations.

“Young and Restless” have been playing since 2005 and now they are touring Indonesia and will be touring Australia come May. Keep an ear out for them – and take a gander at their debut official release; “Police, Police”. Ear shredding and head banging goodness – I want to say YEH!.

Police Police

jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
