The Dark Romantics“The Dark Romantics” were a rare find. I love the way the pick at the edges of what’s possible with pop. This is a band that has very definite ideas about how things should sound and I have been hooked.

First lets begin with some hype from their site

Once upon a summer?s day in 2005, two young men, Eric Collins (Denison Marrs) and Dean Paul (John Ralston Band) sat sipping sweet tea and penning songs in the sweltering southeastern corner of North America. As fast and as beautiful as the tail of a firefly lights up, the boys inked songs on paper. Okay, so it wasn’t all done in ink, but they created songs nonetheless. Songs they were proud of. Songs they knew should be heard.

Songs that are driven by their guitars and the vocals of Eric Collins and my favourite is the stylish “Is This Really Happening“, this has been on the MP3 player for a couple of weeks now, and everytime it pops up I keep thinking “Oh this is that Morrissey thing” and of course it’s not… it’s way better.

A clip from YouTube…

There are a couple of free tracks for download currently at Last.fm and their record company Lujo Records

Make sure you checkout “She’s A Fire”… Recommended
