The Botticellis

Today’s choice almost didn’t get reviewed, I kept going to delete them from the MP3 playlist and then stupidly played them “one last time” just to be sure. Yep. You can see the rest of this unfolding before you can’t you? Happily, for once it ends well.
The Botticellis are really, really, insidious, full of bright Sixties pop with a dark soul. Big hooks, clever lyrics and an addictive enthusiasm for their music. Think of it as Sixties pop meets film noir and then wrap it up in fabulous pre-millennial production. It works for me.
There are two picks today (both survivors of the regular MP3 player purge), first up is “Old Home Movies” (the title track from their album) and “Up Against the Glass“. I leave it to you the reader to decide, I’m just happy when the random play decides it’s their turn.

fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
