New Frontiers

The New Frontiers are an indie rock outfit from Dallas, Texas and I have to say they surprised the hell out of me. Dallas, rock band, guitars, you can see where this is heading… another southern rock band. WRONG!!! These guys are closer to say Coldplay than the Allmans.

Take for example their song “Black Lungs“, it’s a keeper. No crap here, just guitars, vocals and really intelligent songs and melodies that you will be humming in to yourself before you know it.

I spotted this review and it’s pretty spot on…

“The strength in The New Frontiers approach is that they don’t try too hard. This is no-quirks, unpretentious songwriting that focuses fully on the integrity of the song…this is a frighteningly mature album from such a young band. Absolutely top-notch material.” – Captain Obvious

Make sure you have a listen to their cover of Gillian Welch’s “Look At Miss Ohio”… it’s an understated gem.

Surprising, Honest and Highly Recommended

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
