I spotted the The Pinker Tones last year when they released “More Colours” and kept shaking my head wondering

  • A: How do they get that much energy into a track and
  • B: Why aren’t they better known?

Musically they are incredibly clever, nearly all their songs have a happy knack of rewiring your brain and taking up permanent residence in there. Lyrically it’s a bit suss. But let’s face it, this isn’t music for pondering the significance of the words. This is an instant party in your MP3 player. The group’s music is an wonderful mix of pop, funk, soul, latin, break beat, swing, lounge, and psychedelia, oh yeah and they have Spanish, French, English, and German lyrics. Perfect Europop.

The group is comprised of Mr. Furia and Professor Manso, a pair that began fried up their creative relationship after not having seen each other for an age, they ran into each other times three times in three days. After having caught up with each other and chatting about their music they departed thinking the same thing… “We may have something here.”

Here is a video from YouTube of “Karma Hunters”…

Head over to www.myspace.com/thepinkertones and have a listen, my choice would be “Working Bees” but honestly any of them will do.
