Rig Veda
By jools • Jun 14th, 2008 • Category: Indie, Music, RockIt’s Friday night and I’ve had a good day and I’m feeling like something a little more energetic than usual this fine drizzly evening. I’ve had this Chilean Screamo band Rig Veda sitting around for some time and thought that it was fitting to give them an outing.
They are a unsigned indy outfit who play a melodic and passionate brand of hardcore. Their recordings are tight and powerful, lots of tonsil stretching vocalising going on. Live, they lack the polish that the recordings provide.
The line up lists their sound guy as part of the band. They are from Santiago, (truely a place name to conjour with) consisting of 6 members: Pantera (sound), Kulipon (bass), Paulo Ghuveghtu (drums), JP (guitar), MOF (2nd guitar and vocals) and Manolo (vocals). They have been through numerous line-up changes until this current incarnation gelled personally and as musicians.
This is video clip for the track “Alas”. They do have others of their live material – but this is the pick.

Zip over to PureVolume to download some of their tunes or log into MySpace to download them.
www.myspace.com/rigveda and yes they were named after the Hindu sacred manuscripts.
jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
