Lydia is a really interesting indie band that I recently duggup. Their MySpace website is what initially drew me in – it is flash driven and dare I say it.. quite lovely. It appears to flaunt all the MySpace rules and they get away with it.

Lydia is an Arizona band made up originally of a bunch of school friends in 2003. The current lineup consists of Leighton Antelman on lead vocals, Steve McGraw on guitar, Jed Dunning on bass; Mindy White on vocals and keyboards, Craig Taylor on drums and Ethan Koozer on guitar.

From their March 2008 released album “Illuminate” here is “Sleep Well”.

Quite apart from the textural arrangements, the voices are what bring this band to life. The luscious harmonies as they negotiate among the jangly guitars is just classic indie pop. My only complaint really about their current album “Illuminate” is that the lyrics tend to get swallowed by the arrangements in places.

Worth the investment of a few minutes – recommended.

jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
