Well here it is Saturday again and it’s going to be short and sweet. The band don’t seem to have performed since the release of their July 2006 CD called “The Rocks of France”, so it being the pointy football grand final later today, I’m going to a term from the game and take a “punt” that they may well be defunct. Forgive me – too much orange juice today.

The band is called Jewellers Eye and they hale from the UK. I found a track called “Flying” and I’m taking another punt that it’s the same band though the track “Flying” is not listed on the album. The album is still apparently available for sale at Sheehan’s Music in the UK.

“Flying” is a contemporary ballad inspired by the English folk tradition. Embellished with organ, drums, bass and an arsenal of stringed instruments, overlaid with a soaring whistle lead that is tastefully reverbed. Spotted them over at FolkCast where you can also download the title track from the album.

jools is a graphic designer who used to front a band on vocals and bass. All evidence of which have mercifully been obliterated or otherwise lost.
