Ladyhawk – STHD

Ladyhawk are a band from Canada (and are not related to Ladyhawke)and their song STHD is one of the current faves on my MP3 player.

So if the sound of amplifiers at eleven and T-Rexish backing vocals sounds like the sort of thing you might be interested in, this is the song for you. Trust me this is the best investment of two minutes you are going to make this week

This is a rock band, all guitars and vocals and a rhythm section that just drives. The guitars feedback, they ring and distort and damn it’s good fun.

Is it perfect? Hell no and that’s its strength. This music is raw and visceral and all too short. But fortunately for us there are a whole bunch of tracks just like it on their new album “Shots“. Have a listen to the slightly more polished “I Don’t Always Know What You’re Saying“.

There are some similarities in their attitude to music as “Black Mountain, who helped out with some of the production chores and are also on the same label Jagjaguwar. Makes a sort of sense.

Live video from YouTube…

So, there it is, lots of guitar, a band having way too much fun and a small warning, If by some chance you are crossing a busy intersection and the chorus of STHD  kick’s in just as you are say… oh  halfway across. Do be careful. It dangerous enough out there… let’s just say this is the voice of experience talking here. And I have no idea what the cab driver was yelling, the guitars were on eleven.

Highly recommended.
