I have no idea how I came across the The Red Sun Band, but let’s just say that I am really glad I did. They are brilliant. A Sydney based trio “who play pretty loud, dark, heavy, sad dream-pop” and all three of them sing.

So after endless touring (which they claim to love… I am sure they are being ironic) they plonked themselves down in a studio here in Melbourne and ten days later had recorded their second album “The Shiralee”.

The song I have had on the MP3 player for the last month is “Heartbreaker”, a song that sounds like it has jumped forward in time from the Sixties. Very trippy. The other one that I am currently enjoying is “The Eagle”. It’s a short sharp piece with an great break of guitar in the middle eight. Sarah definitely knows how to get a great pallette of noise from her Gibson.

The album is well worth a look. Recommended.
