Imagine a meeting between ‘Wall Of Voodoo” and early Ennio Morricone and you are well on your way to Castanets. Add some blues and the inevitable country and you are just about there. A really intense, sparse sound. This is just so American.

I will be the first to admit that this isn’t an easy listen, there is something disturbing about some of the images that are evoked by the lyrics and the minimalist arrangements. Another one for the “Hard Listening” category but it’s worth a listen. Ray Raposa is trolling some of the “dark” places and the sounds that he uses evoke an emotional response that can be suprising.
