Death Vessel – Bruno’s Torso

Death Vessel
Death Vessel is Joel Thibodeau. It’s his working title for both his solo and band work and before we go any further “Death Vessel” is not some loud fast aggressive metal band from northern Europe (although I can see why you would think so). This music is about as far away from that as you can get.
Death Vessel is a neo folk (who comes up with this stuff?) band that revolves around Thibodeau’s voice and guitar. The vocal’s are astonishing, just totally unexpected. I remember hearing a choir rehearsing at the cathederal in York last time we were there, and that choirboy purity is what you find here.
The song that blows me away is “Bruno’s Torso”. You can have a listen at www.myspace.com/deathvessell. The acoustic guitar work and vocals just get tangled up in your head. His backing band are to die for and when the electric guitar comes in… well, lets just say it makes my day. Oh yes, the guitar work is pretty damn spiffy.
Here is some live footage…
Weirdly hearing him perform without the band is just as potent an experience.
Highly Recommended

fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
