The Hold Steady

The Hold Steady

According to the little widget in the bottom of my screen, it’s 11pm and 37 degress C (bloody hot) here in Melbourne. “The Hold Steady” are providing perfect sound track. In places it’s like the Stones meet Springsteen with a touch the Ramones strut. Let’s face it if you are going to be hot and sweaty you may as well have a great rock band for the sound track.

We have great vocals, lots of crunchy guitars and seriously positve rhythm section. This is rock music just how I like it. I have had these guys on the MP3 player for weeks now and they grow on you. The studied nuance of the vocals, listen to early Springsteen albums and you will hear the same fabulous delivery.

Here is the video for “Constructive Summer”…

Yes they are becoming produced and slick and all the other bad things that happen when a band starts getting “successful”. Have a listen to Stuck Between Stations” (this has also been chewing up listening time on the MP3 player as well).

Thank God for New York Rock bands.

thatch is fascinated by guitars, music, guitars, production, silly noises, guitars and used to be a musician. Did I mention the thing about the guitars?
