This pretty much says it all. The have a small stable of acts that really are more scary screamo than emo. The label is local and the acts come from around the country.

Yellow Ghost Records is a small Melbourne based independently run DIY label. Doing limited runs of Vinyl, CD’s and cassettes.
Supporting and promoting both local and international bands / artists. Enjoying every second of it

You can get a taste of each of the bands they handle on their myspace site. Featured are Luca Brasi, Quebec, Quiet Steps and Robotosaurus.

Your milage may vary on this one folks.

Playback: flash Player

I asked Thatch if he had heard of this band and of course he had, while I thought I might have. That’s what comes of sleeping through Rage.

They are signed to major label Reprise who have obviously thrown bucketloads of money at the In Love and Death album, the videos and the website. (Yes the website, you guessed it, is annoyingly Flash, graphically outstanding and as is often the case with beautiful Flash websites, not good enough because it is a bugger to use.)

Bert McCracken Vocals, Quinn Allman Guitar, Jeph Howard Bass and Branden Steineckert Drums are the Used hailing from Utah USA. Filed by me for your listening pleasure under emo Screamo although Bert McCracken stated in an interview with Kerrang! that he “doesn’t care about what genre they are as long as they make good music.” Well they do that.

The band’s faith in music ultimately provided an escape from their sleepy hometown, as well as an escape from a combined band history that included poverty, homelessness and, for Bert, drug addiction.

The bio on their website tells you nothing about the members – with the exception of the snippet above. This is a success story by all accounts and I think that if they don’t self destruct they’ll be around for the long haul.

Start with the troubled track On My Own from their self titled debut album that I found on MySpace. Follow up with an offering or two from the album Love and Death on the bands own Myspace.

Try the track Listening and finish by partaking of a feast of videos on the band website.

I particularly like the song I Caught Fire and the video for All That I’ve Got with its overtones of David Lynch meets Stanley Kubrick.
